Links: Something to look at already.
Before deciding to move ahead with the project, I searched for resources
on the web that did what this Project had set out to achieve.
Although nothing I have come across achieves quite what I hope to achieve,
I have since come across a couple of really good resources that act as
significant building blocks.
Web Resources. Here's where I would really
appreciate help. The more the better here (at least for now).
These resources aren't nearly as prolific as I thought they would be - or
maybe I just don't know where to look. Please send me suggested
links for web resources to info@dreamsandsecrets.com.
DREAMS
- The World Dream Bank by Chris Wayan. This is a
seriously immersive website. Apart from the very obvious name, I
stumbled across this site searching for a dream that Jung refers to in
his Memories, Dreams, Reflections. The dream mentions the Brocken
Spectre and upon Googling it, the World Dream Bank came up. He has
a very good link to related sites,
which I am not going to repeat over here.
- The similarly named but very different DreamBank.net by Adam Schneider
& G. William Domhoff. This is a more serious site and serves more as
a resource for research on dreams. It also references DreamSearch.net.
- So let's talk about dream-interpretation. Notwithstanding one's
perspective these days I think it is safe to say that dreams are highly
contextual. I accept that there may be "themes" in dreams that could
represent common interpretations, but I am more concerned with what they
mean for the individual than their general interpretation. So, in my
opinion, most dream interpretation sites on the internet today can be
likened to Astrology sites. One often reads about the interpretation
with a curious mind seeking clarity about some bizarre detail of a
dream. As with Astrological insights, these "common" interpretations
then provide just that: some awkwardly relevant or revealing
interpretation that satisfies the reader's eager curiosity. I find these
entertaining more than fascinating - but entertaining is still valuable
so here's a few:
SECRETS
- As with dreams, there are quite a few resources out there that can
keep you busy for hours reading about other's secrets - mostly
anonymously submitted and with no credibility or context. Trawling
through these are captivating and fun but they don't serve the purpose
that we are after here. Or I should say they don't go all the way to the
purpose of this project. The ideal secret has context and detail and the
best types are the ones we keep from ourselves and not those we keep
from others. Nevertheless, if you want to compare other people's random
admissions, the following sites may be fun to scroll through from time
to time:
Reading List. I would not links something here
unless I have read it myself. So I appreciate that there may be some
very good reading material, I am going to stick to material that I have
covered myself. I am open to suggestions if you'd like to make a
suggestion to info@dreamsandsecrets.com.
